DIWA SPORA

Psy Priestess

an evolving ecosystem of sound, fungi, ritual and ancestral memory,

exploring the networks that connect us across species, cultures and generations

Young woman with black hair and tattoos, wearing headphones, adjusting electronic musical equipment with tangled wires, in a rustic outdoor setting with wooden roof and greenery.

Diwa Spora

White mushrooms growing on a fallen tree in a forest with fallen leaves on the ground.

Field notes from beneath the forest floor:

Somewhere between the mycelium, voltage, breath, memory, and machine, lies a liminal space where everything is connected

A collection of spores:

traces of my Czech and Filipino lineage,

fungal communication,

and the belief that sound, like mycelium,

finds its way through time and space

Close-up of a large mushroom with a white stem and a tan cap covered in small white flakes, isolated on a black background.
Handwritten notes explaining the kapampanganconcept of 'Diwa' as a spirit or soul essence, and references to 'Diwa Spora' as a carrier of life force, including descriptions of its invisibility, microscopic nature, and ability to travel in dispersion.
Text in white handwritten font reads 'FOLLOW THE WHITE HYPHAE' on a black background.

Decay = Transformation

Mycelium exist in and facilitate the process between life & death

Ancient fungi helped connect sea & land: one of the first organisms on land,

they ate the rock and turned it into soil, giving way for plants to grow on land

They dissolve boundaries and create connections

Handwritten quote: "The myth of the isolated genius is no more true than the myth of the isolated tree."
Handwritten text of 'Mycelial networks facilitate together lives, exchange resources, and sustain unseen worlds. They reveal a truth our societies have forgotten. Strength emerges through connection.'

Close-up of a section of a fungi.
A close-up of the textured surface of a fungi.
Close-up of a dried, textured, brown object, possibly a seed or part of a plant.

Sound exists outside of boundaries, music transcends time & space

Music carries connection, communication, and memory

Inherited rhythms surface like memory through soil

About the Project

A multi-sensory world where sound, living matter, ancestral knowledge and the fungal realm intertwine.
